Will of 1913-14 Class

We, the members of the Senior Class of W.H.S., being of sound mind (although some may doubt it), as the time draws near for us to bid our fellow students farewell, do make our final Will and Testament.

I, Dudley Strong, do bequeath the "shades of Virgil" to Joe Clay Davis, hoping that it may prove a source of comfort and pleasure to him when, next year, he too arrives in the blissful state of being the only boy in the Senior Class.

I, Gertrude McDonald, bestow upon Maggie Maie Pollard the sly glances of the Athletic Manager. In addition, I will my secluded spot in the southeast corner of the study hall to Samuel Raines and Mary Draper, in order that they may not be forced to hold their tete-a-tetes in such conspicuous places.

I, Anna Leigh McCorkle, do bequeath my desk to Agnes Vaughn, hereby turning over to her the guardianship of Sam Raines, hoping that she may realize fully her responsibility and exert a less harmful influence over him than the present incumbent.

Now, as a token of affection, I, Hattie Mae Davis, do will my beloved friend, Mary Draper, my chamois, which the boys disrespectfully allude to as a "powder rag," sincerely hoping that she may not often find this "out of pocket." It would be unkind for me to deprive anyone of those lovely spring flowers which Joe Bishop has bestowed upon me, so I give the narcissuses of the spring of 1915 to Margaret Draper.

I, Dora Vaughn, do hereby wish that my solid geometry descend upon the head of John Corliss (figuratively speaking). On account of ease of long practice, I am sure he will be able to draw such beautiful figures that he will win a world-wide fame. Moreover, I will to Sallie Love Banks my sunny place in line and the freckles acquired thereby.

In conclusion, we, as a class, do bequeath to the Class of 1915 all physics experiments; and shall we say essays? No! Substituting for the words of the English litany, "From the fury of the Northmen, good Lord, deliver us," we say, "From the torments of essays, good Lord, deliver them." In short, we will them all our trials and tribulations, all our joys and sorrows.

Signed in the presence of witnesses, this 22nd day of May in the year one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

Gertrude McDonald,
Anna Leigh McCorkle,
Hattie Mae Davis,
Dora Vaughn,
William Dudley Strong
