Sept. With a sad goodbye to summer, Centralites donned their work clothes and gaily trudged back to the old grind. 421 meek green freshmen stumbled about. Big Dogs on Campus. Defeated slightly by Tech. 500 Centralites migrated to Little Rock to see the bloodiest defeat of the season. Central scalped Southside. First reports brought groans.
Nov. Football team finished second in city as Central sighed from being overstuffed with Thanksgiving turkeys. War bond sales furnished two beds for Naval hospital and three for Kennedy. Gale Martin assumed editorship of yearbook. 367 ROTC boys with their sponsors marched down Main Street in big Armistice Day parade. First senior class meeting held with Billy Cowan wielding the gavel. Bubble blowing rage hit football fans. Jingle bells, mistletoe and Santa Claus - Mrs. Hawke's classes caroled through halls. Jan. Back from those dreamy New Year's parties. Cramming rampant for mid-terms. Landslide victory for Green ticket headed by Erskine Williams. Big mystery (was the little while building going up on the campus a PX, Canteen, new gym or what?). Oh well, the custodian needed a place to live. Central deeply shocked at the death of Bill Thorn in tragic automobile accident.
Feb. The good neighbor policy was a big success in the form of "Una Carta de Amor," first of three Spanish movies. A and B teams victoriously claimed District Championship. Student talent displayed in bang-up Command Performance in Auditorium. Bowling Championship pegged and shiny new trophies went into the case. Again tragedy struck as Perry Pipkin was killed ironically the day after showing of safety films. Spring fever struck students and teachers alike.
April Track and baseball teams hard at work. Senior Class Party a big success. "Wahoo" edition of the Warrior appears on April Fool. Quill and Scroll Banquet held in recreation room with Paul Flowers as speaker. An Easter holiday plus one for the Cotton Carnival loads of fun. Summer clothes again. May The Home Stretch at last. Over the hump of Government Inspection. Hollywood marveled at Senior Class Play. Officers' Ball. Student Government Elections. Out!
