Death of Mr. Phelan.
Nassau, New Providence, Feb. 8 - Hon. James Phelan, member of congress from Memphis, Tenn., died here on the 30th ultimo of pulmonary consumption. The remains are being forwarded to-day to New York by the steamer Santiago for interment, going by way of New York to Washington. Mr. Phelan arrived with his family in November last in search of health. His disease, however, was so far advanced before his departure from home that he failed to obtain any benefit from the change in climate. His family will remain temporarily here to avoid a sudden change in weather.

Sanders of this city; step-mother of J.W. Sanders of Water Valley, Miss., Mrs. Emma Crutcher of this city and the late Estelle Edward.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Claude Howe will be held at the National Funeral Home, 1177 Union Avenue, this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Friends are invited. Interment in Edmondson Cemetery (State Line Road, Southaven, Mississippi)
