I'm seeking information about my grandmother's half-brother, Charles MARTIN. Can you help?

NAME: Charles MARTIN (b. ca. 1888, unknown)
FATHER: William W. MARTIN (later known as William Loyce MARTIN) -
b. 1871, Henry Co., TN; d. March 1936, Bedford Co., TN
MOTHER: unknown
SIBLINGS: half-sister, Gertrude MARTIN Sanders (b. 1895, St. Louis, MO),
daughter of William MARTIN and Mary Ellen (Mollie) TALBOTT Martin.
COMMENT:
  • Served in the Navy overseas (China) ca. 1908.
  • Shipboard photos (and family folklore) indicate he might have been a Navy boxing champ.
  • One photo depicting a burial-at-sea identifies the ship as USS Helena .
  • Charles MARTIN's fate unknown (could this have been his funeral?)
