Surnames: BAKER, HILLARD, GOLDEN
I would like information on J.W. BAKER and LAVINA S. GOLEN who married in Oct. 1840 in Fayette County, Tn. Was her last name GOLEN or GOLDEN? Also need names of parents for them. Their children were JOSIAH FRANKLIN, MARY and JANE BAKER. JOSIAH was found in 1870 census with wife J.E. and son CHARLES 3/12. In 1880 census he was widowed and his mother LAVINA was living with him and CHARLES age 10 and JAMES PINKNEY age 7. I think Josiahs wife might have been a HILLARD. Can anyone help me with this? Does anyone have access to a cemetery book for Fayette County? They were living around the 7th District. I believe this is around Oakland area. Please e-mail me if you have any info or would like to exchange info. I am having a hard time due to lack of records. Thanks! Nelda

Rosson/Rossin family

Posted by Tish Stafford tstafford@ccps.org on Mon, 11 Jan 1999
Surnames: Rosson, Rossin

John ROSIN and his young wife are listed in the 1830 census of Fayette Co., TN. In 1840, Mary ROSIN is listed as the head of household with three young children (one boy and two girls.) I assume that she is the wife/widow of John. I have tentatively connected her to the Mary ROSSIN in Tippah Co., MS in 1850 (birthplace TN), who had two children living with her, Abram and Susan, both born in TN and appropriate ages to be the children of the woman in Fayette Co. in 1840. The Mississippi household includes a 22 year old woman born in TN named Louisa J. ROSSIN and a baby girl named Mary J., born in MS. Who was John ROSIN, what became of him, what was his wife's maiden name?
