James JACKSON and his wife Frances (WRIGHT) JACKSON, according to family lore,
operated an academy at Belmont, Tenn in the 1840's. Having never been able to
find anything about such a school, and on arecent trip through Braden noticing a
marker telling of Concordia Meth. Epis. Church existing about that time; I
suspect perhaps their church and school location (and possibly James place of
burial?) was at Concordia. Does anyone know the location of this church, whether
it had an adjacent cemetery, and whether a school operated in that area? James
died in 1846 at about age 35; his funeral was preached by "Brother
McFarland." After his death, his widow continued to operate the school and
lived at Belmont until after the Civil War.
