Fred Goosmann

Fred Goosmann, a citizen of Somerville, Tenn., engaged in the jewelry business, was born in Lingen, Germany, July 5, 1852, and is the son of Fred and Mary J. Goosmann, both natives of Germany, but now residents of Cincinnati, Ohio. Our subject was educated in Germany, and has been in the jewelry business from boyhood. In 1866 he immigrated to America and located at Cincinnati, Ohio, remaining there until 1870, when he moved south and settled at Somerville, Tenn., and engaged in his present business. Mr. Goosmann is carrying a large stock of jewelry, clocks, watches, etc., and ranks as one of the correct and substantial business men of Fayette County. December 7, 1875, he was married to Mattie F. Simmons of Somerville, and they have had six children: George F., Jennie C., William H. M., Willie M., Lillie B. and Emma L. Mr. and Mrs. Goosmann are Presbyterians; he is a member of the K. of H., and in politics is a Republican. He is a man of good moral character, and of a kind, generous disposition, and successful as a business man.
